Ronnedy à Karlskrona (Suède) - Ronnedy to Karlskrona (Sweden)

Thursday 4th August
So finally the “butcher like” guy from Ronnedy who accepted to let me cmaping at his place let me go this morning alive. A nice breakfast...

...and I was on my way... but... today the muscles suffered. A lot of hills to climb and a lot of facing wind. Hence I only cycled 78km (approx 50 miles) today. But I visited the city of Ronnedy, which has a huge parc and a cute old downtown.

And then I visited Karlskrona, which is a very very nice city, surrounded by numerous small islands that are crowded or not. It's also a military city with an old citadelle.

Today, the sun was shining. Two days in a raw that it's nice weather, it's delighting. I even got a sun burn in the back. Tonight, I arrived in a camping ground along the see. I took this opportunity to have a see bath and have a little sun bath too.

Tomorrow, direction to Kalmar... I hope to make it, it looks like it's pretty far and the Swedish signs are only made for cars, always directing to motorways.

Kiaby à Ronnedy (Suède) - Kiaby to Ronnedy (Sweden)

Wednesday 3rd August
Today, 114km on the counter (approx 70 miles). I should have almost done more but finally not, I stopped before my objective as it was 8:00pm when I stopped and I way beginning to physically fail anyway.
I got awaken by the cows this morning at 6:30 ish. They all came along the tent, there was even one that managed to undo one of the tent fixation. It was strange to hear them breathing strong to search the grass. They finally got away and let me getting ready alone.

I also saw a pretty big fish (probably a carp) that was feeding very near the shore in low depth water, nice spectacle.

So I left Kiaby in direction to Solvesborg, where I got information from a nice lady who could speak a little bit of French (she did one semester in Chambéry in 1994), nice girl, really. She explains me a little the nice things to see in the area. Si I decide to follow the coast according to her instructions. The problem is that in Sweden, the cycling paths are very badly indicated. So I got lost once more. But anyway, I still managed to pop by what were supposed to be typical fisherman villages... well, let's say there are a few fishermen... and a lot of tourists there.

This part of the coast includes very nice sand beaches though.

So, then I got up until Karlshamin, where I had an excellent fish fillet, don't ask me what type of fish, but the fish was fresh, and all this meal costed 65 SKR (approx 8€).

Obviously I got lost again in the city so I asked for my way to a very nice looking girl in the street. But she could not help me as she did tell me she came from Danemark. So, I finally managed to find my way in direction to Ronnedy, next big city. I take small countryside roads but also some motorway bit (allowed) and during a stop at an info point, I see that there is a parc where it's possible to see European Bisons (smaller than the American type). All people who know me well can tell that my favourite animal is the Bison. It's going to cost me a nice long-round but still, I want to go there. I arrive around 5:00pm, a little tired. But there the cashier tells me that I cannot go through the parc with my bike or even walking, it's only allowed by car. I am gutted, especially since I made this long loop to pass by this parc. At this moment, a man (about 50 years old) enters to buy 3 tickets. I ask him if he accepts that I come with them in their car... and he agrees. He agrees, without knowing me, me smelly and sweaty... and he's Swiss !! These people are from Zurich and were really nice. We did the visit together, we saw all sorts of animals... all except the bisons of course, who stayed hidden somewhere.

So, I left very disppointed around 7:00pm. It's late and it won't be easy to find a place where I can wash myself. I see a lake on the map that is on the way to Rommedy. So I start paddling towards this place. And some kilometres before arriving, in the middle of nowhere, I pass by this girl I asked my way to, at around 1:00pm in Karlshamin. How funny is this, the word is small. I explain her what happened to me. She tries to help me by calling her friends where she goes to, to ask them if they can host me but they refuse. Anyway, on the road, she explains me that she is russian but arrived in Denmark when she was 16. She now lives in Sweden. Strong life path for this girl. Anyway, we say goodbye close to the lake (who knows, maybe I'll pop into her again tomorrow). Further on the way, I find an abandoned  Peugeot 404, what a pitty...

And when I arrive, what a lake, full of leeches and only composed of dark water and mud. Not ideal to get a wash. This is explained by a local guy who's chopping woods in front of his house. I then ask him if I can put my tent in his backyard and have a shower in his place. He accepts nicely. The guy is a bit of a social case (no job, no girlfriend, no kid), he's from Finland originally and hardly speaks English. But he's nice. His bathroom could be the scene of an horror movie (I will avoid telling you the details). I just hope he's not a weirdo who going to kill me during the night... or worse... but well, if you can read those lines, it's probably that I made it safe.
