After the visit of Ottawa, we arrive midday in Gananoque to visit the 1000 islands region on the St Laurent river. We rent a canoe and hit the river with Sergeï who has never paddled in his life and me, just once a few weeks earlier with Didier. We have camping and fishing gear, food so we are ready for the adventure of the century.

We'll contemplate of the houses dropped on those numerous tiny islands (owned by rich people, let's face it) that compose this region.

We will spend the night on one of the islands, the McDonnald island.

A little wink to my former boss, as we passed by the Forsyth island (that's his family name).

The hardest thing won't be the midnight bath in a water kind of freezing, not the empty fishing baskets, nor the chaotic orientation within the plethora of islands using a basic A4 paper map from the local tourist center, no, the hardest will be the return on the day after because... the wind was waiting for us. My dear friend the wind, the one that made my legs suffering quite much, well this time he will make my (our) arms suffering this day. 4 hours to paddle against the wind and in high waves that were inviting themselves on board. Don't forget we are both complete dummies in canoeing !! All our stuff will be quite wet eventually. A nice experience anyway and a great memory. A big up to Sergei, good luck to him for his future projects.

Return to Montreal upon the evening, where I should get ready to go West !
