Bocas Del Toro (Panama) - Bocas Del Toro (Panama)

After a long journey to cross Costa Rica, after the crossing (walking) of the border and the abandon of our bus driver (he just went away with the bus without driving anybody to the final destination), here I am on my way to Bocas Del Toro, little town located in the Panamean mangrove on the Caribean coast.

In the taxi on our way to the port, I meet Ryan, an americain who studies in Costa Rica (he's comes to Panama for 3 days to renew his costarican 3 months visa) and a couple, Angie (Canada) and Tricks (Dennmark) who are also going to Bocas Del Toro to spend some days. We get on very well and we ended up spending all our time together in Bocas. Ryan was already there so he was our guide for the entire stay. Bocas Del Toro is a surfers paradise. My 3 friends being confirmed surfers, they took me surfing in the nearby islands on the first morning. Unfortunately the waves are definately too high for me (about 10 feet) and more important, the confirmed (and probably local) surfers are not very keen to let the beginners to catch "their" waves. Not a rock'n roll attitude but it doesn't matter, I just spent 3 hours sitting on my board watching my friends surfing. But even them, will admit that the level required to catch these waves was very high. But I made it worth the trip on the evening as Bocas Del Toro is famous for being a parties on the ocean's shore spot. The most fun was on the second night that we spent on the nearby island to spend the night in a bar where they have swings to jump in the ocean. In the middle of the night, it started raining and we just spent the rest of the night to party in swimming suites under the rain. Don't forget we are in the caribeans and it's warm, even during the night. The night sleep has been short... But on the last evening, we cooked all together a delicious meal (most of the hostels have kitchen that travelers can use) with fresh fish and Chilian wine.
