Tofino (Canada) - Tofino (Canada)

This morning, wake-up early as I am taking the bus around 8:00am to go to the ferry terminal located in the North of Vancouver, destination to Tofino, little town quite famous for being the best surfing sopt of northern America and located on the other side of Victoria Island, which is swimming in the Pacific ocean and that goes all along Vancouver district.

After the ferry trip, I arrive in Nanaimo. I still have 300km (around 180 miles) to do by bus... well, this is what I thought because the daily bus that goes to Tofino leaves the terminal at 10:30am and it's over midday already. My only solution : hitchhiking. And again, I stood a LONG time on the side of the roads. After 4 different lifts, I finally reach Tofino at 7:00pm, very happy to be there.

The following morning, I rented a surf board, a swimming suite (it's only 10°C) and a bike with a surf stand. Long Beach (the most famous spot) is 17km away from the town. I reach there paddling, funny experience, with a surf board on my side.

After a big mess trying to put my swimming suit on (first time for me though), I get into the water. There is wind, the waves are high (about 1m50). There are a few surfers in the water as well...

And I surfed during 5 good hours in a raw. What a physical challenge but what a pleasure too. I think I have done about 15 waves all long standing on the board.
