Après s’être perdus dans la Sierra
au départ de Cordoba, nous trouvons un endroit pour dormir dans les
vignes sur la route de Mendoza, à la Dormida (ça ne s'invente pas).
Mais nous avons assez peur car sur un des chemins empruntés, nous
avons vu une énorme tarentule, mais quand je dis énorme, je veux
vraiment dire ENORME. Nous avons même fait demi-tour pour la revoir
mais elle s’était déjà enfuie dans la brousse ce qui nous a fait
encore plus peur car cela signifiait qu'en plus d’être ENOOOOORME,
elle était rapide.
Pas le temps de la prendre en photo mais en
voici un spécimen trouve sur Internet... et la nôtre était plus
grande !
Bref, le lendemain, nous voilà à
Mendoza, la capitale viticole (auto-déclarée) de l'Argentine. Et
nous avons été plus ou moins déçus. Nous allons passer le matin
du premier jour à visiter la ville qui ne présente presque aucun
intérêt puis l’après-midi, essayer de visiter quelques caves.
Mais celles qui paraissent typiques sont payantes (info pour les gens
qui ne sont jamais allés en Alsace, chez nous, ce n'est pas (encore)
payant), nous choisissons donc de nous restreindre. Nous allons donc
commencer par la visite d'une cave géante, on parle de production
industrielle ici. La cave Lopez produit... 10'000 bouteilles... par
heure !!!!!! La chaîne de production est exceptionnelle voire
étourdissante, technologiquement très avancée. Petit détail
invraisemblable, les bouchons sont en liège et proviennent du
Portugal. La visite qui est gratuite ici, se termine par une
dégustation très sympa en contraste avec le conformisme du reste de
l'entreprise.
Puis nous allons visiter une cave artisanale et de
taille humaine (joli vignoble, murs en pierre, etc) mais où la
production est UNIQUEMENT destinée aux dégustations pour les
touristes et la vente des bouteilles suite aux dégustations. Je ne
vois vraiment pas l’intérêt. De plus, contrairement à la visite
précédente, celle-ci est bâclée et ne reflète en rien l’idée
qu'on se fait du lieu en arrivant. Une belle attraction touristique,
rien de plus, sans âme...
Le soir, nous allons dormir à
Uspalatta, un petit village qui se trouve dans les montagnes. Nous
trouvons un petit coin sympa pour camper avec un petit ruisseau pour
se laver, vu la chaleur, nous transpirons beaucoup.
Le lendemain, nous allons passer la
journée à remonter tranquillement la route qui mène au Chili à
travers les montagnes sans toutefois passer la frontière. Nous nous
arrêtons au Puente Inca, un pont formé naturellement par un dépôt
de calcaire.
Puis nous allons essayer d'atteindre la statue de El
Christo Rendentor de Los Andes (le Christ rédempteur des Andes) via
un chemin très escarpé. Malheureusement, ayant atteint la neige,
nous rebroussons chemin mais l'aventure fût plutôt amusante.
Le soir, nous trouvons un joli petit
bout de jardin au bord de la route à côté de Mendoza, les
propriétaires nous ayant donné l’autorisation d'y rester. Douche
à la bouteille d'eau pour l'occasion. Avec une certaine gymnastique,
on y arrive tout seul, c'est assez marrant.
Puis le lendemain, nous rendons la
voiture de location et prenons le bus vers Santiago de Chili via la
magnifique route des Andes, une fois de plus, les montagnes nous
offrent un spectacle merveilleux.

Having been lost in the Sierra from
Cordoba, we find a place to sleep in the vineyards on the road to
Mendoza, in La Dormida.
But we are scared enough as on a borrowed
road, we saw a huge tarantula, but when I say huge, I really mean
HUGE. We even turned around to see her but it had already fled into
the bush which made us even more afraid because it meant that besides
being huuuuuge, it was fast.
No time to take a picture but here is a
specimen found on the Internet ... and ours was bigger!
Anyway, the next day we are in Mendoza,
the wine capital of Argentina (self-claimed). And we were more or
less disappointed. We spent the morning of the first day to visit the
city that has almost no interest. Then in the afternoon, try to visit
some wineries. But those who appear to be typical charge people (info
for people who have never been to Alsace, there, wine testing is
free), so we choose to pick only two wineries. We will start with the
visit of a giant cave, we are talking about industrial production
here. The Lopez winery produces ... 10,000 bottles ... per hour!! The
production line is stunning, technologically very advanced. Afunny
detail, the plugs are made of cork from Portugal. The tour is free
here, and it ends with a very nice tasting session in contrast to the
conformity of the rest of the place.
Then we visited a traditional
wine cellar with human scale (pretty vineyards, stone walls, etc.)
but production is ONLY dedicated to tastings for tourists and selling
bottles following the tasting. I really do not see the point. In
addition, unlike the previous visit, it is sloppy and does not
reflect the idea we have of the place when we arrived. A great
tourist attraction, nothing more, soulless ...
In the evening we go to sleep in
Uspalatta, a small village located in the mountains. We find a cool
spot to camp with a small stream to wash. Let's face it, it's pretty hot there.
The next day, we will spend the day
slowly driving up the road to Chile through the mountains without
crossing the border though. We stop at Puente Inca, a natural bridge
formed by limestone deposit.
Then we will try to reach the statue of
El Cristo de los Andes Rendentor (Christ the Redeemer of the Andes)
via a very steep path. Unfortunately, having reached the snow, we
turn back but the adventure was rather fun.
In the evening, we found a
nice little patch of garden along the road next to Mendoza, the
owners have given us permission to stay. Shower with water bottles
for the occasion. With some gymnastics, it's feasible and pretty
funny.
Then the next day, we hand
the rental car and take the bus to Santiago de Chile via the
magnificent Andean Road, once again, the mountains offer us a
wonderful spectacle.
